We believe that God blesses us so that we can be a blessing in the lives of others. The ministry of outreach in the relief of human suffering is a major component of the life of Harcourt Parish. Here are some of our outreach ministries.

Interchurch Social Services of Mt. Vernon (ISS) |
|
ISS is an outreach ministry supported by many Knox County churches, Harcourt Parish among them. It provides assistance for a wide variety of human need, including emergency food and shelter, counseling and job training. Harcourt Parish provides financial support for the work and many members of the parish are active on the Board of Directors. We also collect a substantial number of Christmas gifts for Interchurch clients in late November and early December. Harcourt Parish does all our direct aid (gas, rent, food help) through Interchurch. |

The parish provides both financial and volunteer support to this end-of-life-care facility. |
The work of Habitat is well known through the support and involvement of former President Jimmy Carter. Founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller, the goal of Habitat is to provide a simple, decent, affordable home for those who need one. Habitat requires recipients to provide sweat equity in their own home and those of others, and arranges low-cost, non-profit mortgages for them. Using donated materials where possible, and volunteer labor, Habitat is accomplishing its goal one home at a time. Since its founding, Habitat has built over 150,000 homes in over 3,000 communities, providing shelter for over 750,000 people. Several members of Harcourt are active on the Board of Directors of the Knox County Habitat affiliate, and members of the parish are often involved in builds over the summer. The parish also provides considerable financial support for this work. |

The parish provides both financial and volunteer support to a number of other organizations including Knox County Head Start; Knox County Headstart; Curamericas; and Cuttington University. |
